Glitter Goes Green

Paint The Town Green

Don't let our cynical city dweller persona fool you. Behind the scenes, us Glitterditchers are busy administering Baby Bio to the window boxes and recycling the empties: our local bottle bank thanks us. Oh yes. We heart green, which is why we were delighted to hear that an alpine-style cable car might be the new plan to ferry us all across the Thames.

Transport analysts have advised TfL that instead of building the proposed six lane road bridge in east London, a cable car would be cheaper, sustainable, environmentally friendly and could be ready for the 2012 Olympic games. Word on the street is that Boris (now chair of Transport for London) is unhappy with the road bridge plans, so this novel idea could well be taken seriously.

Continuing on a green theme, we learn that even while you're giving your livers a bashing, you can still be good to the environment. Enter Juniper Green Organic Gin stage left, the world's first (and only) organic London Dry Gin.

Distilled at the Thames Distillery near Clapham, this is the drink of choice for all you eco-warriors out there. It's made with organic grain spirits and demineralised water and the Soil Association have certified this coriander-infused fragrant delight 100 per cent organic. So, there'll be no nasty pesticides to interfere with your drinking enjoyment.

Bottoms up.
