If you do one thing tonight.

Mayday music

Singing along to guitar strumming is one thing. Writing a fantastic tune quite another. Guitar toting singer-songwriters sometimes give musicians a bad name. Like those loveable but tuneless scamps who strum their battered acoustics while hogging Underground busking spots. And contribute to air pollution. Wedding bands have their fair share of aural karma time to work off too.

But never fear, it's safe now. The long-haired Dylan wannabe is gone. Unplug those ears. We have a folksy guitar wonderful for you that will make all the bad thoughts go away. The sparkling Gemma Hayes is playing Hoxton Bar and Grill tonight, and as we type there are still tickets up for grabs.

Currently gracing the cover of Irish music mag State Magazine, Miss Hayes' lovely tunes have featured on Grey's Anatomy and do-gooder Oxfam record The Cake Sale. She's been known to appear on stage with Oscar winner, Glen Hansard and his pals in The Frames too.

Expect soulful, melodic, pretty guitar and hearfelt vocals. And this girl can get a crowd going.

We wouldn't steer you wrong. We don't think there's a better place to be, sonically, tonight. Unless you were planning on dancing around a Maypole. We wouldn't want to stand in the way of that.
