When The Good Go Bad
Don't make us turn to Craigslist...
We've been talking a little bit about protests this week, and now its time to start one of our own. Imagine our shock and outrage when, on clicking the 'desperately seeking' link on gumtree today, we found that they had changed the criteria. We'd always thought that 'desperately seeking' was a place to find men who were willing to pay money for you to suffocate them with your feet, or women who demanded armies of boys to come and play gay dress-up for them. Apparently not. It has now turned into a disgusting orgy of niceness, a hole for the 'long lost' sad-acts, where those with no adult friends seek people who might or might not have bullied them twenty years ago. For shame.
And if the tragic pathos of these lonely people doesn't quite give you the voyeristic thrills that you're after, you can head on over to the 'casual relationships' section. But quite frankly, we've scanned the first few pages and no one has yet offered us money for indulging scatological whims, so it's all looking pretty vanilla and dull.
And so we urge you to protest in any way you can - email them, stand outside parliament, get hammered on a train, post spurious listings about buttsex. Do anything to ensure that this mistake is rectified. After all, without the 'desperately seeking' category, we'll be forced to actually go and look for our own perverts, and who knows where we'd go about doing that?
