Cabin fevered deer murderer in London!
Okay, so the summer's taking a break. Looks like the leaden grey sky is here to stay for a bit. Only a touch of imagination and it could be snow weather! Which is a bit of a pain because we've packed away all of our woollies. It's all cotton dresses and straw hats here at Glitterditch, which is really no good for skiing. But there's a fellow in town who knows a bit about snow. Bon Iver's the man to help us with our weather worries. Having locked himself up in a snowbound Wisconsin cabin for the winter, and fed himself on the deer he killed with his bare hands and guitar shavings (or you know, a gun), the good fellow managed to write and record one of the most spectacular albums we;ve heard in quite a while.,.
It's all sweeping atmosphere, fragile guitar and hearfelt vocals that crack on the high notes. Folky melodics and the kind of lyrics that suck you into a story sideways. Rather good stuff folks. And not at all as crazy as you'd expect a cabin-fevered deer killer to produce.
He's playing Chess Club at the Social tonight. Unfortunately, since he's had the Pitchfork treatment, unless you already have a ticket you're out of luck. Sadly all sold out.
We wouldn't do that to you, though. Turns out he's playing La Scala with Jens Lekman tomorrow too. Who, being from Sweden, has the whole cabin in the woods and mountains and snow thing going on too. Who needs summer sun?
