Stuff we found out.

Gold medals for apathy

What do you think of the 2012 London Olympics? That's what a new survey conducted by the BBC's Inside Out programme looked to explore. The big finding from the poll, which quizzed 2,000 people up and down the country, was that nearly 70% of folks think it will bring no benefit to their area with 6 out of 10 Londoners answering that "there is nothing in it for them".

Unsurprisingly Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell has scolded such views, telling us that we're all idiots, don't know what's good for us and should shut up (probably). In reality, when people don't know what their plans are for the weekend, how can we get excited about some distant event in over four years time? We'll probably be priced out of attending any of the big sports and relegated to watching table tennis rather than the 100m. And it's bound to rain all summer long anyway. Bah, humbag.
