Kink for beginners
Go out, drink, meet perverts
And why not? It's Monday morning, and what better way to plan the week ahead than with a quick glance at the calendar to see if there are any Munches on the horizon. A Munch, as those of you with half an inclination and a cupboard full of whips will know, is a meeting of like-minded S&M types. One of the only meetings, in fact, where you won't be presented with the admittedly intimidating sight of welted bottoms and men in drag the second you walk in.
If you live in London, there are more than a few Munches to choose from. Glitter highly recommends the imaginatively named London Munch at The Elephant on Fenchurch Street. People are friendly, and you get to walk past all of the lonely old men drinking beer upstairs and wishing they could join the corseted nymphettes below. That might be a little misleading, actually, as you won't see many corsets at a Munch. People dress casually, drink casually, chat casually, and don't beat each other up next to the fruit machine. It's more of a social/networking event, which means that passers-through might be fooled into believing it was a knitting circle until someone starts discussing butt-plugs.
Also of note, purely because it's supposedly coming up tomorrow, is the City of London munch. A bit more cliquey, so we advise you drag a similarly fetishistic friend along, but more convenient if you're central. Having said that, their seriously out-of-date website leaves us wondering if the organisers have been left tied up and asphyxiated somewhere, so we take no responsibility for disappointment. Glitter hasn't been to the Putney Munch, so comment below if you know what it's like, or head along on Thursday and write us a review. In case you're worried that these events tend to be populated mainly by wrinkled old guys who want to be spanked by six foot PVC-clad goddesses, you might want to try something a little younger. The next London under 35s Munch is being held on the 17th of May. Bring ID if you're prematurely withered.
