The Glitter Radar
Glitterditch in Love
This week, the release of Love Ire and Song by London based singer songwriter, Frank Turner has warmed the cockles of our perma-frosted little hearts and here is why.
Turner, once singer in post-hardcore outfit Million Dead, has taken a leaf out of Billy Bragg's book (stop pulling that face, right now) picked up an acoustic guitar and penned one of the most loveliest, heartfelt albums we've heard for quite some time.
Honest, earnest and keeping the flames of the story telling tradition of folk rock burning with tales of living on the road, broken relationships, the death of friends, the loss of ideals and the all too sobering realisation that getting older is often a bit rubbish: this is not the self indulgent, singer songwriter twaddle that gets piped out of the local tinpot FM, this is really beautiful, complex and emotional songwriting.
With eye stinging refrains like "Life is about love, last minutes and lost evenings. About fires in our bellies and furtive little feelings", we demand you to go out as see this troubador in the flesh during his upcoming London shows.
As they are sold out, that leaves only three options: beg borrow or steal.
