Only on TV

Did you pay your licence fee?

Of course you did, you upstanding little citizen. But this is why, like us, you should now be morally outraged by the news that a holiday-themed plotline in Eastenders has been derailed.

The trouble? They wanted to film it in Spain, but the cost proved to be prohibitive, so the poor folk have been banished to Weymouth instead. Weymouth! Besides the fact that it is clear that the characters on Eastenders are the package holiday sort, not from the green local-holiday brigade, last time we checked we had shelled out well over £100 for our TV licence. Surely that's enough to cover at least a week in Benidorm or on the Costa del Sol? This shockin lapse in quality would be almost be enough to make us switch off, if only we weren't so fascinated by the question of what that evil little Stacey is going to get up to next.
