Body mods! Philosophy! Part-human instruments of death!

eye.jpg A few days ago, we foolishly implored Science to start looking into weighted knickers. How we regret that comment today, for all the time that has definitely been wasted on fulfilling our request could better have been spent on developing eye-laser technology. Don't laugh - the day when part-human part-robot sexy killing machines walk the planet has been brought one step closer, as doctors at Moorfield's eye hospital have implanted the first bionic eyes.

That's right - eyes that are actually tiny projectors. Glitterditch is more than a little excited about this development. Not only does it raise exciting Ship of Theseus questions, which finally, finally makes our philosophy degree relevant, it also means that humankind is quantifiable research-years away from Cyborgs.

Long have we been excited, and occasionally tittilated by the beautiful world of body modification. Not every crazy indie boy has blue eyeballs, and it's uncommon for even the most suicidal of girls to have a sub-clavicle piercing. But even despite the awesome freakery of these mods, they're limited to pure aesthetics, with not a practical use in sight. With the invention of eye-lasers, night vision and other bionic treats, we know that the outcome is either a better quality of life for the vision-impaired, or a race of all-powerful super-humans. Both are good with us.
