A very nasty taste
The Mighty Boosh's stars and creators Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt are reportedly undertaking legal action to remove the £3.2 million Sugar Puffs ad from our screens. It is not that the yellow furred thing is too intolerable for Fielding's eyes to deal with - clearly not enough colour or accessories and certainly not even a hint of a cape or stetson - it is simply because the advert seems to be a direct rip off of the Boosh's Crimps. Or, short song with a distinct rhyming style for the uninitiated.
Whether the ad is homage to the comic surrealists or just a blatent rip off of the Crimping style of songs the duo have become renowned for, it has created some serious ructions in the cereal buying community. Glitterditch has even spotted some spectacularly dressed Boosh-ites in the local supermarket hiding boxes of the "Golden Pips" behind the Weetabix the other day. Sadly, the offenders were far from incognito and left a trail of glitter and feathers behind them, causing shop assistants to run after them shreiking:"You feather wearing tossers, you've ruined a whole afternoon's work" and jeers of: "You off to a disco... in 1973". Tsk!
With several Facebook pages created in outrage to the ad and fans of the Boosh proclaiming that they'll never eat another Sugar Puff as long as they live, we're pretty sure that they'll be leaving a nasty taste in the mouths of Boosh fans for a very, very long time.
