Musical musings

Would you go to a record or book signing?

Like your female singers? Have nothing on tonight or tomorrow? Then why not dust off your old autograph book and hunt down some celebrities doing the PR thing in London. R'n'B singer and current chart-topper Estelle blogged on her MySpace page that she will be signing copies of her new album 'Shine' in the Zavvi record store, Oxford Street from 6pm tonight (rush for that door NOW!), while the NME reports that Queen diva Mariah Carey is pimping out her new track 'Touch My Body' (do we have to?) at Selfridges tomorrow at 4.55pm.

Glitterditch once witnessed utter chaos in the name of a celebrity book signing and even asked one of the many attending police officers which literary giant was in town. The answer - Jordan. Nowt as queer as folk, eh? But such stars must see the merit in these publicity stunts, otherwise why do it? Because they love meeting their fans? Sure, and I'll bet Mariah will personally chat with each of them for minutes at a time. Glitterditch is far too lazy to queue for a glimpse of celebrity skin, but that's not to judge those die-hard fans that relish this small moment of joy.

So over to you Glitterditchers - have you ever queued at a record or book signing? Is the long wait ever worth it and what are your highs and lows from such occasions? Come on, spill.
