A Sense of London

We know why Kevin Spacey loves London

spacey.jpgNow a fully fledged resident of South London, Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey has declared himself as "happier now than ever" in an interview with The Times. Aw - how nice. Yes it is, isn't it? Lovely that a A-list star, with a couple of Oscars gathering dust in a downstairs loo somewhere (as that's where they all keep them dahling), has successfully managed to carve out a life for himself here in London, rather than Los Angeles.

Spacey manages to cunningly dodge the interviewer's question on why he chose to live here, but here at Glitterditch we have five reasons why the thespian loves London...

The people. It is THE place for American showbiz types keen to win the Brit vote of popularity. In the past few years, we've seen the likes of Madonna (not a fan of Ken's), Gillian Anderson, Tim Burton and Gwyneth Paltrow take up residence here, with Bruce Willis rumoured to be planning a move to Mayfair soon. Not to mention the fact that many of our homegrown stars refuse to up sticks and leave for Hollywood. That's double the glamour.

Our History. It's more than just a lesson at school when you wander the streets of ol' London town.

Our warm welcome. Anything goes here (and usually does.) Spacey might have protested frequently in interviews that he is one big hetero, but just in case he fancies a little taste of something else - that's fine too.

Our colourful language. Stateside everything is "dude" or "guy", but aren't words like "chap" much nicer? Not only do we have a more imaginative and charming way with words, we can also let rip while sounding classy. "Bugger" is the expletive of true gentlemen.
