Top Three Tuesday Theatre Freebies

Don't you just love it when you spend a fortune on theatre tickets, and then when you get to your seat you can't see a thing and the drinks in the bar cost you a fortune? No. We hate that too. If we're going to see a show (and after last night, we're quite inclined to do it all again this evening) we want to be able to see. And we want to do it at reasonable prices. Without selling our stilettos to buy a G&T in the interval.

We know this seems like we're asking a lot. But Glitterditch happens to know a fair few places in London that have 'free' theatre on a Tuesday. It seems to be 'pay what you can' day for the fringe theatres and frankly Mr Lloyd Webber could learn a thing or two from them.

So what cultural freebies can we offer you today?

Mad Funny Just is on at Theatre 503. Never heard of it? Well it's at the Latchmere pub on Battersea Park Road. What's it about? Consequences of death and the insignificant things in life that have a profound effect on others. Blimey.

We've got to love the Arcola Theatre. Two free shows tonight. Two. Anywhere that's all about showing good theatre instead of making lots of cash is fine by us. Make sure you arrive a little bit early to get your tickets though. Here's what you can see:

The Blind: A reworking of a 19th Century masterpiece about blind hospital patients. The cast in this show are blind or partially sighted.

Purgatorio: All about the themes of forgiveness and retribution, violence and betrayal.

Yes, it's all very deep stuff. But you'll get to be smug and cultured in the pub afterwards, with all that money you've saved from not paying 50 quid for rubbish seats. Talk about the show in loud voices and bask in 'I've just been to the theatre' glory.

The Arcola Theatre is on Arcola Street, Theatre 503 is at the Latchmere on Battersea Park Road. We know the theatres say pay what you can, but don't be cheap. This does not mean 5p, a button and some fluff you found in your pocket.
