Time to get Hectic

Because we know you're already clock watching and wishing you could go home...

After watching magicians last week, we'd quite like to see some more. But today we feel like we need a bit more than someone pulling bunnies out of hats (as cute as they are). So tonight we're going to The Hectic Peelers Film Club at Roxy Bar and Screen.

Roxy Bar and Screen is a strange little place. It's got a great little bar which we like. But often, we end up transfixed on the film without really knowing what's going on. (Especially if like last time our date is very very dull.) Tonight, that's all going to change.

Glitterbitch does love a good black and white movie. We like things with a bit of mystery. So The Man from Beyond is exactly what we need. It's Houdini's only surviving film don'tcha know. How very cool. The night is being organised by Electric Sheep Magazine and Resonance FM. You'll get a free copy of the magazine if you go too.

But it's better than that. Otherwise we'd just be pointing you in the direction of the nearest cinema. The music in the film is being restored by the resident djs for a start. Then after the show, there's a Q&A session and a little bit of magic. We're not sure if bunnies will come out of hats, but we're certain there will be tricks.

As for the rest of the bar? Well it's very cosy and the food is pretty good. Glitterbitch suggests you just get some nibbles and a decent bottle of wine. After all, the whole night is free. So you might as well splash out a little bit.

Roxy Bar and Screen is at 128-132 Borough High Street. It's so tucked away though, if you blink you'll miss it. The night starts at 6.30 and the film at 7.30. We recommend going straight after work. It's going to fill up with film buffs pretty quickly.
