The Pub Crawl

The Waitangi Day Pub Crawl

We're telling you about this now, so that you can prepare and look after yourself this week. The Waitangi Day Pub Crawl is on Saturday. This means a lot of drinking. If you haven't been, it's a pub crawl around the whole circle line. Yes, every single stop. All 26 of them. We know that this many glasses of wine would kill even the most hardened of livers so we've done a bit of foward planning.

So you don't all end up in hospital the alcohol poisoning, here's the best bars on the circle line. We suggest you pick these and skip out the rubbish bits. Make sure you get to Westminster by 4pm for the all important Haka.

Victoria: It's official. There is nothing here. Go to another stop instead and don't waste your time with The Shakespeare.

Baker Street: We've been informed that the best place to go is Marylebone high Street. All the pubs down there are pretty good apparently. Good good. Lots to choose from.

Kings Cross: King Charles Ist. Near the station. Cute little pub which is cosy enough to warm your toes.

Farringdon: Great food at The Castle and a pretty good glass of wine too. It's also the only pub in the area that seems to be open at the weekend. Once the people at The Guardian go home, all the pubs shut too.

Liverpool Street: The White Hart apparently has an excellent Cellar Bar. We've never been so you'll find us in there at some point on Saturday. We've been told to avoid Hamilton Hall. It's been dubbed 'awful, despite the nice building'.

Mansion House: The Hatchet. A bit of an old man pub, but with the city boys out of town, you might just enjoy it in here. It's within stumbling distance of the station which helps.

Blackfriars: Shaw's Booksellers is just up the road. It's the nicest pub around and is all tucked away. Somehow we don't think that will make a difference today.

Embankment: Get off here and go to Gordon's wine bar. If you time it just right, you can get some food to soak up all that booze.

Then it's off to Westminster for a bit of New Zealand dancing. Brilliant.

Disclaimer: Glitterditch is not responsible for damage to your liver on Waitangi Day. It's your own silly fault your head hurts and we will only provide paracetemol with an SAE.
