The Art of Sunday Drinking

Hands up who's hungover a little from drinking yesterday? Tut, tut. Actually, we were out and about in town yesterday, and despite our best intentions (honest!) we ended up in the pub. We were dragged. With force.

OK, so that may not be true, but after a hard day's work with the band, and our awful experience in Balans, a drink was needed. We've realised that there is an art to Sunday drinking. To make it feel OK. Like you're not drinking on a school night.

Yesterday we ended up in the Old Coffee House on Beak Street. It's the perfect Sunday drinking pub. It's cosy. We've realised that this is a very important part of drinking on Sundays. You need to feel like you deserve to be in the pub because it's cold and nasty outside. You need open fires, comfort food. Then really, it's just like being at home. The Angel in Tottenham Court Road is good at this. Swanky wine bars are not.

You need somewhere close to home. Near a tube station. Then you can skip off easily. Or, in our case, convince yourself that it won't take long to get home so you can stay out longer. Somewhere tucked away in a back street is just a little bit too much effort if you're drunk.

Of course, you also need somewhere friendly that everyone likes. As soon as you start arguing about where to go, you'll end up in the nearest pub. Which will no doubt be a Weatherspoons. And this not good Sunday drinking. This is asking for trouble.
