Ready, Set, Go! 2012 Apocalympics
Bethnal Green Working Men's Club is a strange little place. If you don't know of it, your first thought will be 'why would I want to go to a working men's club'? And we understand that. But it's fantastic there. It's not like a normal club. It's full of random little indie club nights that people put on, just because they want to. This means that you get silliness at a pretty good price.
We discovered that tonight, silliness is in the form of Apocalympics. Which, if you can't guess by the name sounds like just about the best fun ever. Pretending it's the future, doing silly events like 'rat tossing' and 'rocket archery' (we promise we did not make those up) all sounds really quite exciting.
To explain, those clever events people behind Hot Breath have done it again and along with silly games you'll also get some great djs and dancing thrown into the nuclear waste bargain bin. See, this kind of thing just doesn't happen in Central London.
The only thing we can't work out is what to wear to make it look like we've survived a nuclear war? Maybe we'll pop down Topshop and annoy the 'fashion student' staff by asking them. Or, maybe we'll get drunk and fall over a lot on the way. That should do it.
Bethnal Green Working Men's Club is on Pollard Row. Nearest Tube is Bethnal Green and you're going the right way if you walk under the railway bridge. They stop letting in at midnight, but get there much earlier if you don't want to queue for an hour and then be turned away. Don't say we didn't warn you.
