Prince Charles Cinema

Because we know you're already clock watching and wishing you could go out to play...

We aren't usually fans of the cinema. Especially not in central London. Somehow before you've even bought a ticket you've spent all your money on sweets and a huge drink that doesn't even have any gin in it. Which doesn't seem like a good way to spend our money. Even if we do get to see Johnny Depp doing his best cockney accent.

So we're lucky that those clever people at the Prince Charles Cinema do things differently.

For a start, tickets are only £4 in the afternoon (and a fiver in the evening). We think that's a vast improvement on the shocking amount the Odeon charges. Now, we know that it means that you don't get the newest releases, but you can see some really good classics if you time it right.

They also go film marathons and galas and exciting things that you only get with an independent cinema. This means that you do more interesting things with your afternoon and you still get popcorn. Although Glitterbitch actually prefers ice cream.

They also have 'lovers seats' which is a posh film way of saying sofa. But it's cute. And at least with their free seating policy all of the annoying kissing couples can be at the back while you're paying attention to the film at the front.

If you're not already convinced that The Prince Charles is a rival to even The Electric and The Curzon down the road in Soho, get a years membership. This will cost you just £10 and you get even cheaper tickets (!) and a discount at the bar. They'll tell you even more about the snazzy stuff going on throughout the year too.

With cheap tickets and famous directors like Kevin Smith and Edgar Wright popping in for chats, this clearly sounds more fun than falling asleep watching a DVD.

The Prince Charles Cinema is at 7 Leicester Place near the Hagen Daaz cafe.
