Glittery A-Z

La Rueda

London's best bits are often the ones that have been getting it right for years. The places that feel new and exciting every time you go. So to celebrate these we bring you the Glittery A-Z. Today we bring you 'L'.

What is it about tapas food that makes us feel like summer is near? It's one of the only foods that can really magic us away from busy rainy London. What could be better than transported to the south of Spain? La Rueda can do this as soon as we walk through the door.

We've drunk the best wine we've ever had at La Rueda on Wigmore Street. And that's just one of the things that keeps us coming back. That and it's some of the best tapas food we've eaten. It's well documented how much we love tapas food.

It's so simple. There's nothing complicated about tapas. La Rueda is one of the few places that won't mess it up but trying to be clever. So all you have to do is order and relax. And that's clever.

We suggest you order a lot of monkfish because it's easily one of the best things on the menu. Although all of the seafood is fantastic. We even found ourself eating anchovies. Usually we won't go near the nasty little things but they were amazing last time we came here.

Not only is the food and wine amazing, but it feels like a proper restaurant. With all the La Tasca's popping up everywhere, we need somewhere that's a little bit more authentic. La Rueda is it. There's nothing bad about this place. The staff are friendly. It's tucked away enough not to have a stream of students and tourists. It's right next to Wigmore Hall so if you really want to sweep someone off their feet, take them here to watch a concert first.

Trust us. You'll get lucky.

La Rueda have several branches in London including one in Clapham and Tower Bridge. Our favourite is the one on Wigmore Street. Bond Street is the nearest tube.
