If you do one thing tonight.
K-Box Karaoke
Because we know you're already clock watching and wishing you could go out to play...
Glitterbitch always says she hates karaoke. The truth is, stick a mic in her hand and you can't prise it back off her no matter how hard you try. But she'll stick to the line that she can't sing and hates karaoke. Well, the first part is at least true. This all changed at K-Box karaoke on Saturday.
We want to hate karaoke. But once we've thrown a couple of tequilas down we suddenly think we're Britney. Minus the 'issues' of course. The truth is, karaoke is fun. And K-Box is our new favourite place. Though we did have to brave Leicester Square on a Saturday night which was pretty scary.
We bet there's a few veteran mic holders out there who are screaming 'no! why are you telling us about K-Box when Lucky Voice is so much better!' And in fairness, Lucky Voice is a lot swankier. But strangely, we liked the fact that K-Box looked like a very seedy hotel. Though we were being charged much more by the hour.
Karaoke is tacky. Somewhere that looks sleazy just adds to that. We loved the generic 80s videos that went with the songs. We loved that the wine tasted like vinegar. (OK, maybe we didn't love that.) K-Box is good because it's bad. But we didn't want to touch the walls in there.
In case you were wondering, our song of choice is Heart of Glass by Blondie. And yes. It's shocking how bad we were. But that's the point! You get to laugh at your friends and make a complete fool of yourself. It's more than acceptable to get too drunk.
You laugh until it hurts and stumble out feeling happy and silly. Not bad for a couple of hours work. Not bad at all.
K-Box Karaoke is on Cranbourn Street in Leicester Square. An hour will cost you about £85 which is pretty reasonable when you get 12 people in a room. Go. Make a fool of yourself and then tell us all about it.
