Islington: Our Top Five Bits

London's best bits are often the ones that have been getting it right for years. The places that feel new and exciting every time you go. So to celebrate these we bring you the Glittery A-Z. Today we bring you 'I'.

Yes, we know we're cheating a little by not finding a venue that begins with 'I'. But really, do you want us to tell you how good the Ice Bar is? No. Because really, it's not that good. So instead, we'll just tell you about all the great places in one of our favourite bits of town: Islington.

Carling Academy: We do like a good dance. We have some strange taste in music sometimes. This is why we like Carling Academy. One minute we can be dancing to trashy cheesy music, the next we can be listening to The Cure. And they happen to have some pretty good bands playing too.

The Old Queen's Head: This is one of the least poncy pubs in Islington. It's cool and trendy, but without being all, you know... Islington about it. We like the little garden at the back. We think it's our favourite pub in the area for drinking in the sunshine.

S&M Cafe: Glitterbitch does like her comfort food. She also gets pretty narky when she's tired and hungry. So the wonderfully monikered S&M cafe is where you'll find her on a Sunday. See, we're actually quite simple at heart.

The Social: This pub might be one of those sneaky little secrets that no one knows about. Until now. But we like it in here. It feels unspoilt. The Social is fun and simple. Pretty darn good food too.

Elbow Rooms: Glitterbitch can't play pool. It's tough to hold a cocktail and walk around in high heels while you're trying to play. Trying to do that and look good is impossible. At least at the Elbow Rooms, she can look good while other people embarrass themselves. It's fun here. We like.
