Fitzrovia Radio Hour
Glitterbitch was charmed last night. Which is rare. Usually, on nights out of debauchery and mischief, being charmed is the last thing that happens. But then, it's not often that we go to cute little radio plays in tiny little bars that no one knows about. Despite the fact that we missed the first show. Luckily there was another show an hour or so later. Very handy when you get stuck on the Northern Line.
We'd love to keep Bourne and Hollingsworth a secret from you. Really we would. It's very small and we don't want to ruin it. But we know that we won't be able to keep quiet about it. Especially not when they have events like Fitzrovia Radio Hour, which we told you about last week.
We felt like we went to the theatre yesterday. To see an old fashioned, real play. A really excellent play. With added extras like old radio mics and really fun sound effects and things like that. We smiled and laughed and really enjoyed the play. Which was original and only an hour long. Yep, that's right. An hour long. So really, it was the perfect kind of theatre. Not once did we look at our watches to see when we could go to the pub.
Watching a radio play is strange. Because it's something you're meant to listen to after all. So it was a good job the cast all got dressed up and did make it visually interesting. We learnt about Sherlock Holmes and laughed at clever jokes. Everything was performed so perfectly and you really felt like part of the action.
But then, it was hard not to feel part of the action. Bourne and Hollingsworth is so tiny, you feel like you're in someone's living room. Which is no bad thing. It makes everything very cosy. And it just happens to be a really beautiful living room with a great little bar.
As we said, Glitterbitch was charmed by last night. Radio hour is a great idea. Bourne and Hollingsworth is perfect and we're quite smitten.
Despite us saying that Fitzrovia Radio Hour was free, they did have a tiny charge of £3 on the night which is worth every penny. There's another show on March 3rd - one performance at 7.30 and another at 8.45. Get there early. Bourne and Hollingsworth is at 28 Rathbone place.
With thanks to Matt Brown for the photo.
