If you do one thing tonight.

Are you Jealous of the Daylight?

Because we know you're already clock watching and wishing you could go out to play...

Should we be Jealous of the Daylight? We don't know what the title means, but it makes us sound like we are meant to be jealous of the daylight, even though we're not.

These are events people and promoters that we can get on board with. They put on shows and offer free cake. We are a sucker for anyone who will give us free cake.

So apart from free sugary goods, what's all the fuss about with Jealous of the Daylight?

To quote their website they are 'cool for cats and kittens in hats and mittens'. Tonight they're at 93 Feet East (sometimes they're at The Gardening Club and Rock Garden too). And you can expect some great comedy from Trevor Lock. He's funny. You will laugh. Beer might come out of your nose. Then you can see Paul Foot who's a comedian from Canada and is apparently very funny too.

Bourgeois & Maurice are also playing. Who? Well yes, that's what we thought to. So we had a look at their myspace and ooh damn they're good. Very seductive jazzy cabaret. But they can actually sing. We like the song 'Don't Go To Art School'. Pretty good advice right there. Do go and see them. We think they'd actually be better live.

93 Feet East has been getting a bit samey recently. It's such a summery venue that we often ignore it in winter. Promoters like Jealous of the Daylight offer us more interesting things. Their resident band Gold Heart Assembly will be there too.

So skip off to Brick Lane and do some dancing. Eat some cake for us too. In fact, go and eat cake at lunchtime to celebrate that you're going to be Jealous of the Daylight this evening. And if you do work out what that means, let us know.

Jealous of the Daylight (do check out their very funny website here) is at 93 Feet East. That's at 150 Brick Lane. It's opposite the Vibe Bar but don't go in there, it's shockingly bad. Its a fiver in advance or £8 on the door. Enjoy the cake.
