Glitterditch Approves

Our Secret Jazz Bar

Have a date? South of the river? Then Glitterbitch has the purrrrrrrfect place for you. If you really want to impress someone, then take them to Oliver's. This tiny little jazz bar in Greenwich is so well hidden there's people who live there and don't know where it is. Which is no bad thing. For us anyway.

So, why is it the perfect jazz bar? Well you have to go downstairs for a start. Glitterbitch has always thought that the best jazz bars are underground. It seems to be true so we're not going to change our mind anytime soon. And it's red too. This always seems to help.

It's tiny. Lots of dark little corners to snuggle into with a bottle of red. Or, there's enough space to have a group of you just catching up and having a few drinks. Especially now there's a new lounge next to the bar as well.

The music that they have here is fantastic. Really really good. Everything from loud blues stuff to traditional piano jazz. It can get really lively here on a Saturday night. But you won't notice, you'll be too busy hidden in a corner snuggling up to someone lovely. It's really that kind of place. You'll forget what time it is in here very quickly. But then, two bottles of wine or so can do that.

So do go, but make sure you take someone lovely.

Oliver's is on Nevada Street in Greenwich town centre near the park. It's opposite the Greenwich Playhouse. If you happen to know of any good jazz bars which have stairs going up, we'll happily try those out too so let us know.
