Glitterditch Approves
Our Secret Cake Hideaway
There are too many cake-shaped hideaways for us to choose. We could have spent the whole day telling you about where we eat cake. We eat a lot of it. And still manage to look svelte. Ha!
If you don't hate us too much, we'll tell you all about George.
We're talking about George of Greenwich. Once an rubbish over-priced furniture store, now a wonderful cake shop. They apparently do other food too but we can't say we've ever noticed.
Everything here is yummy. The chocolate cake is so good that it made Glitterbitch's best friend 'C' swear rather loudly in amazement. Ooops. But the cakes are really that yummy in here.
The downside? It appeals hugely to ladies that lunch (and occasionally their screaming kids) and well, it is over-priced and the service can be rubbish. Usually, this would turn Glitterditch HQ off a place completely, but the cake is too nice!
The best part? Someone thought it was a good idea to link the cafe up to the wine bar next door. So you'll pretend you're coming in for cake and tea. But as soon as your plate is clear, you'll be next door drinking Rioja like it's going out of fashion.
George is best sampled in the middle of the day. It feels better when you're not meant to be there. If you see us later and we look drunk and happy you'll know why.
George of Greenwich is on Nelson Road. It's next door to Bar De Musee so make sure you pop in there too.
