Glitterditch Approves

Our best secret ever!

We told you we'd share with you. We promised you our best kept secret. But this means that you have to treat it really really well otherwise we'll come round and kick you in the shins.

So, is it a fancy bar? A fabulous night club? Or a gorgeous restaurant? Nope. It's a good old fashioned boozer. It's our local. Welcome to The Greenwich Union.

Now although it isn't all glitter and glam like you'd expect from Glitterbitch, it's wonderful here. It's our favourite place in the whole of London and it really is the best kept secret in Greenwich. Now, there are a lot of places in Greenwich that people say that about, but the Greenwich Union is well hidden. It's in the posh bit away from the tourists so you can sit there on a Sunday with the paper and not be pestered. It's worth the walk for that alone.

But it's not just that it's secluded. The bar staff are lovely. Not just pleasant. Really lovely. And all gorgeous too. They let you eat ice cream from the Ben and Jerry's stand down the road. Find us another pub in Greenwich that does that.

There's nothing posh about the pub though. It serves its own beer (in chocolate and raspberry flavours should the mood take you) and has a really good wine list. You can order proper food. Including random stuff you've never heard of before. It turns out Gipsy eggs are a posh baked ommlette and we like them very much.

The Greenwich Union is our second home. It's where we hide when London is being rubbish. Or if there's a pile of dishes we're avoiding. This is the place away from Glitterditch HQ where we can just hang out. But we get to hang out with friendly people who give us wine.

The Greenwich Union is on Royal Hill. Ask the guys nicely and they might even let you try all the different beers. Make sure you pop in the little independent shops on the same road to buy dinner. Yummy.

The Onion is not an 'old fashioned boozer'. The pub next door is, though.

They are, nonetheless, both very good. Historical opinion will be divided on which is better ;-)

It's old fashioned enough for Glitterbitch.

The pub next door is not very good. It's a bit rubbish and the bar staff aren't very cute. But the beer garden is rather lovely.

Choccy beer is yummy. This is where we shall be spending the rest of the day...
