A Drunken Discovery about Sangria

Thumbnail image for sangria.jpg

Last night, while discussing tapas bars (and agreeing that La Tasca is not real tapas food and is really horrible) Glitterbitch made a discovery about Sangria.

You see, we have always thought Sangria was yucky. But then, for some reason, the Sangria we have had has been wrong! All wrong. Apparently Sangria is not red wine and orange juice mixed together. This would explain why we thought it was so horrid.

So for the drunkely challenged, here is what Sangria should have in it:

  • 1 bottle of red wine. Rioja is best and yummy.
  • 2 cups ginger ale, or lemonade.
  • Lemon wedges.
  • Orange wedges.
  • 2 shots of Brandy.
  • A spoonful of sugar.

There. Now just mix it all together in a great big bowl and chill. Yummy.

We will be trying this in many different tapas bars from now on. Good ones. Like Meson Don Felipe and Rebato's which is frankly the best Spanish restaurant we've ever been to. As always, we'll be crossing the street to avoid La Tasca.
