Spoilt (Glitter) Bitch
Glitterditch Christmas Wishlist
Dear Santa,
This is what we want. We've been very good all year. Sort of... we'll work on it, we promise.
We've already told you we want Ms Pacman arcade games. We do. But instead now we want this. Look at how much fun!
We're feeling retro and playful. Glitterbitch really really wants Screwball Scramble. And one of those penguin things with the escalator and helter skelters. We don't know what they're called but we'd give our left (mojito damaged) kidney for one. It's Christmas. We want toys.
Don't laugh, but your Glitterbitch can't skate. On ice or otherwise. She'd fall over a lot. Some private lessons would be nice. A bit like Dirty Dancing but with snow.
We want a hangover cure that actually works. Bacon sandwiches are fibs. Raw eggs is icky. We're not going to the gym. Don't be so silly. Tell us! Tell us what really works!
We also really want ice cream for a whole year. A tub (or two) a week. Sent to us while we write. All flavours please. Surprise us. But not mint choc chip. No. This evening we have ice cream with chocolate dinosaurs in. Yes.
Then after Christmas dinner we want Foo Fighters to come and sing us Christmas Carols. Yes, we want Dave Grohl in our Christmas stocking. Ahem.
And lots of silver sparkly things of course.
All of these things.
Don't drink our booze or eat our mince pies though.
Ta very much,
Glitterditch.

From a friend who knows
liquidsnack: hangover preemptive strike
Posted: 20 Nov 2007 10:47 AM CST
The holiday party season is officially on. For most that means more food, more libations, and more regret the morning after. I was out recently with a friend, when a little after-work drink turned into a tasting menu with wine pairings, then last call at 1AM. She was bemoaning the difficulties she'd have the next day on her early conference call. She wondered how I manage to go out eating and drinking almost every night of the week sans hangover? I explained my simple protocol perfected on the party circuit.
Campari and soda is my last call beverage. Regardless of what alcoholic combinations you've had throughout the evening, the bitters, herbs and bubbles will settle the stomach. Have an alka-seltzer and big glass of water before you go to sleep, they will help your body hydrate and repair during the night. The next morning (or afternoon as the case may be) coffee, more water and one of those Emergen-C vitamin C fizzy drink packets. A solid breakfast/lunch of carbs and protein, like a burger or pasta, replenishes the gas tank. Lastly, make a trip to the gym. It may seem counter-intuitive to exercise when you're exhausted, but it does help to reeve the engine and sweat out the sins of the previous evening. By the time you're done, you should be fresh as a daisy, and ready for another night out.
Hooray! I am trying this! Thanks Mo! But I'm still not going to the gym... Glitterbitch does not do gyms. But everything else sounds pretty good.
Out of interest, where was the wine tasting menu you had? Come on... share with us!
If anyone else knows of any other hangover cures let me know! The less hungover I am, the more parties I can go to... then there's more interesting stories for me to share with you! See, everyone wins!
